Gillian Martin works as an architect in London. As a child she enjoyed many caravan holidays all over Europe and her parents are still keen caravanners.

On reading about this competition in an architectural periodical, she saw the chance to design a caravan she herself would like to own. In her words-

"Current environmental debate provides caravanning an opportunity to challenge the dominance of holiday air travel. However, the lack of diversity in modern tourers is disappointing. This competition offered the opportunity to design a bolder, brighter, lighter, streamlined and more versatile alternative to the ubiquitous white box. A caravan which could challenge public preconceptions and appeal to a whole new market"
