Caravans

Tiverton High School

Tiverton High School's Design technology department jumped at the chance of taking part in the caravan of the future competition.

Being in the heart of picturesque Devon, Tiverton is a great tourist centre and many of our student's families are either caravaners or rely on tourism for a living - some running certified locations in the region.

Caravaners get a bad press for allegedly clogging up the roadways but this a  myth - the problem caravaners have is that they are an easy target a big white box that looks slow and cumbersome and therefore must be slow.

This was the start of our quest to design the caravan of the future.

How can we make caravans look more interesting, more inviting and at the same time be even better for the caravaner.

About 60 students took part in the competition and the need to look at getting the best out of a limited space fits brilliantly into the scheme of work and encourages innovative thinking.

We are currently designing a new design and technology building at the school and the creativity of the students is the driving force behind the work we are doing.
